- The Duke at Old Town -- a self-contained brand new condominium community in Old Town Alexandria
- The Duke in Old Town -- Classic stylings in brand new homes at the intersection of the Carlyle District and Old Town
Buying Tip
Every new condo development will have its own sales staff. These people are often friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the new condominium. However, these folks work to sell this property only. The on-site staff of a new condominium knows the property as-well-as or better than anyone around and they are there to assist you but they work for the builder.
When in the market for a new condo, it's a good idea to employ a condo expert such as Will Nesbitt of Condo Alexandria to protect your interests. A condominium agent knows the entire area, not just one property. An expert knows the pitfalls and benefits of buying new, and best of all it won't cost you one dime more than if you use the onsite staff. You have a right to representation: exercise that right today!
Introduction to The Duke at Old TownAs of the time of this posting, the Duke at Old Town is under construction in Alexandria VA. These brand new condominium homes are on sale already. The Duke promises a self-contained community within walking distance of world class shopping and boutiques, distinct and popular dining, and the culture of arts and attraction. Easily accessible, the development is a few short blocks from the King Street Metro and the Beltway, and within 10 miles of the Capitol itself.
The Historic District of Old
Town Alexandria provides a picturesque setting for this one-of-a-kind suburb,
where the best of 200 plus years of history is beautifully married with 21st century
planning and conveniences. The small town atmosphere that envelopes the Duke
helps to detach it from the greater Metropolis of its world-famous neighbor. Like
the already completed communities at Abingdon
Row and Prescott, the
Duke provides Old Town colonial architecture encasing a thoroughly modern life-style.

Tour of Old Town in a Mule-Drawn Carriage
Would you like to get to know Old Town Alexandria VA? I'll tell you one of the best ways to see a few sites and learn more about our fair city: take a carriage ride. Our carriage was pulled by a hard-working mule. Her owner tells us she loves to pull. As she clopped slowly down the side streets of Old Town, her owner filled in details about houses and locations that we passed. For me, most of the information was old hat, but I couldn't help but think this would be a great way for a tourist or new resident to get to know the city. The fee for the ride was down right reasonable and I was impressed with the mule's strength as she pulled up and down hill along Old Town's waterfront. After she dropped us off we snapped this picture from Market Square. There in front of Burke and Herbert she seemed more in place with the surroundings than the cars who shared her road.

Introduction to Old Town AlexandriaOld Town (sometimes called Olde Town, Old Towne or Olde Towne) is in my opinion the heart of the city of Alexandria. As the name implies, Old Town is the oldest part of Alexandria, a port in colonial times. Old Town Alexandria is found along the Potomac, just inside the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and then north toward Reagan National Airport. Old Town is served by the King St. Metro and the King St. trolley. With over 100 restaurants, shops, boutiques, coffee shops, ice cream houses and more, Old Town has both a small town, upscale and touristy feel. For most folks there is a bit of prestige attached to an Old Town address. There are two high rises near the waterfront at the Alexandria House and Port Royal. Old Town Alexandria has many townhouses, row houses and a smaller number single family homes.
